Is this order actually making you money?
A price that only covers ingredients leaves you baking for free. Include packaging, preparation, decorating time and overhead, and Bakehop won’t save a selling price that doesn’t cover them.

Save your ingredient prices
Save ingredient and packaging prices once, in the pack sizes and units you buy.
Pay yourself for your time
Build recipes and products with your quantities, usable yield, packaging and the minutes you spend mixing, decorating and packing, at your hourly rate.

Can’t I just charge $1 an ounce, or what other bakers charge?
Rules of thumb and other bakers’ prices don’t know your costs. Premium add-ins, six flavours in one box, packaging and your packing time all change what a bake costs you, and ingredient prices differ where you live. Bakehop works from your own pack prices, recipes and hourly rate, then adds the margin you choose.
Should I charge for my time?
Yes. Add the minutes you actively work, such as mixing, decorating and packing, to your recipes and products at your hourly rate. Baking time when you are free to do other work doesn’t count. Bakehop includes your time in the cost and won’t save a selling price below that cost, so your margin is profit on top of being paid.
Is this really a one-time purchase?
Yes. $29 USD is one payment for Bakehop Local, with no monthly subscription.
Is it only for cakes?
No. You can cost cakes, cookie boxes, cupcakes, pastries, tarts and other bakes. Save each size or pack as its own product, with the recipes, packaging and time it needs. Local is designed for one bakery run from a main device; it does not include inventory tracking or a shared team workspace.
What happens after I pay?
After payment, you’ll land on a thank-you page with a link to Polar’s customer portal. Sign in with your checkout email to find your licence key, then open Bakehop Local to activate it. Activation needs an internet connection.
Can I import my existing spreadsheet?
Not yet. You enter your ingredients, recipes and products yourself, using the pack sizes and prices from your receipts. If you work in US dollars or rand, optional starter data adds a vanilla layer cake with its ingredients, packaging and recipes for you to adjust. Its prices are estimates, so check them before quoting.
How long does it take to set up my first recipe?
Start with one bake you sell often; you do not need to enter your whole menu. Save its ingredient pack sizes and prices, add the recipe quantities and yield, then include your time and packaging. Setup time depends on the recipe. Reuse those ingredients and recipes for your next product.
Does it work on my phone, tablet or computer?
Yes. Bakehop Local runs in a current browser on phones, tablets and computers. On supported browsers you can also install it for an app-like shortcut. A larger screen gives you the most room for editing recipes and quotes.
Do my records sync between my phone and computer?
No. You can use the same licence key on another device, but each browser keeps its own records. To move your work, download a backup on one device and restore it on the other. Restoring replaces the records in that browser, so keep one device as your main workspace.
Can I work without internet?
Yes, in the paid app, after activation and once it shows it is ready for offline use. Recipe costing, products, customers, quotes and PDFs work on your device. Reconnect for a licence check every 7 days, with 3 extra days of grace if a check cannot complete. After that, saving pauses until a successful check; reading, PDFs and backup export remain available. The free demo needs internet.
Where do my recipes and customer details go?
Your bakery records stay in the browser on your device. They are not uploaded to Bakehop. Download regular backups and keep them somewhere safe; clearing browser data or losing a device can erase your records.
Can I use my own currency and measurements?
Yes. The paid app supports currencies including USD, GBP, EUR, ZAR, AUD and CAD. Choose one for your bakery, along with your weight, volume and count units. Add your own pack prices and any ingredient-specific conversions. The free demo uses USD. The app purchase is separate from your bakery’s currency. Checkout charges R399 in South Africa and $29 USD elsewhere.
Does it send quotes or take customer payments?
Download a PDF and share it yourself by email, WhatsApp or your usual channel. You can include your bank details or a payment link you already use. Mark quotes sent, accepted or declined yourself. Bakehop Local does not send messages, process customer payments or confirm that a payment has arrived.
What if Bakehop Local is not for me?
Email contact@bakehop.com within 14 days of your purchase and ask for a refund. You will receive a full refund, with no explanation required. Refunding the purchase revokes its licence. Your saved records remain available to read and export.
